Mars Meets Venus

(Lyrics below)

My original goal (and still sort of is) was to create two songs, one from a woman’s perspective, a female singer. The 2nd from a guys point of view. I am super proud of my writing here but this took many hours and revisions laying it down to the music and 3 minutes in realizing wasn’t right yet. The music was much harder and I went through many versions as well. The one that made it finally to release was actually one of my earliest takes but I wasn’t sure about the harshness until I realized that actually this was the hook. It was raw and unbalanced and very harsh until it slowly built up. 

The line, “we’re so different, total black and white”, almost didn’t make it to the final version. I had a completely different chorus all planned out but listening To teach final recording over and over, I went back to one of my early revisions. That line just seemed like a natural hook to me but I didn’t realize it until many hours into the process of writing. 

I wasn’t sure about this song in the beginning.. but I now consider it one of my best.

“Call your mom?”, no “Call your brother”

He’ll drive in circles, to prove a point
won’t ask for help, pride in every joint
