She wants the story behind every word
I just nod and pretend I've heard
She reads the silence, I keep it quite brief
She wants the talk, I roll my eyes: “good grief”
She asks how we feel, I say we're “pretty good”
She hears things I said, that I never would
She always wants meaning, keeps a mental score
I’m just trying to watch the game once more
They say women are from Venus and men from Mars
Two different worlds, two different stars
She’s hypnotic, soft curves, what a smile
I’m rough edges, so simple, no style
We’re so different, she goes left, I go right
She says “Let's talk now,” I say “let's talk tonight”
Two strange planets with magnetic attraction
Venus meets Mars: it's unstoppable action
She’s got twenty pillows thrown across the bed
I’ve got one sad cushion that kinda holds my head
She steals all the blanket every single night
I wake up frozen by the morning light
Her closet’s full of stuff, hasn’t worn in five years
Yet every week it's something new, by magic, appears
I’ve worn the same shoes since my first job out of school
I have the same shirts since flip-phones were cool
She needs a talk, well I need a break
She needs a walk, I want to go grill a steak
She hears deeper feelings, she hears my tone
She's talking to me? I thought she was on the phone!
We’re so different, just Day versus night
She’s ten days ahead, I think two is just right
Two strange planets on course for collision
Venus meets Mars, imperfect precision
Her world and mine, set to collide
You better sit down — cuz oh what a ride
Opposite motions might be taking their toll
Venus meets Mars — we might be losing control
Her bright Red lipstick, that little black skirt
I try to look away, but she begins to flirt
Traces her finger down her chest in the dim light
Cuz Venus might be pulled down to Mars Tonight
She says I’m stone, I say she’s fire
Different rules but the same desire
She calls it so deep, I call it so lame
If I call it the sun, she thinks it might rain
I say I'll do it a bit later, she wants it done now
I say “relax”. she says “don't talk to me now!”
We’re so different, we're Daylight and Night
She says go left, I say no we go to the Right!
Two strange planets in spiral attraction
Venus meets Mars — cosmic chain reaction
We’re so different, she goes left and I go right
She says “Let's talk now,” I say “let's talk tonight”
Two strange planets with magnetic attraction
Venus meets Mars: it's unstoppable action
We’re so different, total Daylight and Night
She loves the Sunlight, But for me is to bright
Two strange planets so far far above
Venus meets Mars — But this must be "Love"
