Jonni threw a party
but forgot to invite her friends
when the party day arrived,
she nearly jumped the bends!
she taped up all the windows
set the music way too loud
danced alone in flashing lights
bowed to an empty crowd
Bobbi got a message
sent to her by some mistake
“free drinks and bad decisions”
so she decided she would take
she showed up at the doorway
like she owned the place outright
yelled “this party needs a pulse!”
started dancing into the night
Jonni says “don’t touch that”
Bobbi sneers “why not?”
Jonni says “cuz you'll get burned”
“shit! that's fucking hot!”
back and forth like volleyball
each volley just more noise
right back to eachother’s face
'Til both girls lost their voice!
Jonni got defensive
Bobbi cracked a grin
Jonni said “you’re chaos”
Bobbi leaned right in
cups fell off the counter
music hit the wall
both of them still arguing
neither one would stall
Jonni blamed the timing
But Bobbi blamed the vibe
Jonni said “you ruined it”
then Bobbi said “you lied”
then they stopped mid-sentence
both now froze in the light
tilted heads in silence
cuz something wasn’t right
same shoes by the doorway
same jacket on the chair
same way they both mutter
like nobody is there
same rhythm in their footsteps
same off-beat little swing
Did they know each other?
Did the same Mom tuck them in?
Jonni says “don’t touch that”
Bobbi sneers “oh come on please”
Jonni says “cuz you'll get burned”
Bobbi says “excuse me while I sneeze”
same shoes on the hallway
same jacket with a Tare
same laugh in the silence
which echoed twice in there
same grin on the left side
same look in both their eyes
Did each have a sister?
Did they grow up living lies?
Jonni says “well that’s my name”
Bobbi says “no way”
Jonni says “same birthday”
Then Bobbi steps away
they shared the same old house
and they knew the same old streets
they looked a little closer—
they had the same feet
they remember the same room
they remember their mother
they both had a sister
oh my god, they know each other
they both start laughing louder
like they knew it all along
two sides of the same mess
arguing in song
Jonni says “we’re sisters now”
But I think “we always were”
Bobbi says “this all makes sense”
Jonni says “yeah that's for sure”
Jonni says “I missed you, Sis”
Bobbi says “I needed you”
Jonni pulls her in real close
Bobbi says “I missed you too”
Jonni says “don’t touch that”
Bobbi sneers “why not?”
